The Gottwald engineering office became the “GOTTWALD & BACK Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH” on 1.4.2022. With the arrival of Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Gunnar Back, the range of services will continue to be ensured in the future and expanded to include further subject areas.
Dipl.-Ing. Joachim Gottwald continues to contribute his many years of experience from racing engine construction as a test engineer in chassis development at Porsche and product liability at Mercedes-Benz to the company.
His areas of expertise include both the legal aspects of product liability with a focus on actions for conversion and reduction as well as recourse claims.
Furthermore, he is the only publicly appointed and sworn motor vehicle expert in Germany who deals with causes of fire. With his expert opinions, he is considered a luminary in the field of fire cause investigation and a sought-after expert speaker at congresses and seminars.

Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Gunnar Back has 25 years of experience in manufacturing and development in the automotive supply industry and in general mechanical engineering. Of these, 15 years as technical manager or technical managing director of SITEMA, a company in mechanical engineering.
His broad know-how covers the field of development, construction and production of machines. In particular, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical machine components with DGUV-certified safety function as well as their integration into the most diverse machines and systems.
He also has many years of experience in the automotive sector at LuK (now Schäffler AG) with the construction and development of drive train components.
All in all, a great technical background, which is also documented by numerous patents and inventions.
In his management functions during this time, he has also gained a lot of experience with regard to all aspects of setting up and organising an efficient technical corporate division. He is now happy to make this diverse experience available in the function of an expert and as a technical consultant.
